The New York Mets Announce 2013 All Star Game at Citi Field Stadium!

Earlier today, NEW YORK METS owner FRED WILPON, MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL COMMISSIONER BUD SELIG and NEW YORK CITY MAYOR, MAYOR BLOOMBERG announced that the 2013 MLB ALL-STAR GAME will take place at CITI FIELD STADIUM in Flushing, Queens! The 2013 MLB ALL-STAR GAME will take place on Tuesday, July 16th, 2013.

 This will be the first time since the ’60s that the home of the NEW YORK METS will host the ALL-STAR GAME – in 1964 SHEA STADIUM hosted the time honored event during it’s opening season. The ALL-STAR GAME, also known as the MID-SUMMER CLASSIC, was last held in New York during the 2008 season at YANKEE STADIUM. New York has hosted the ALL-STAR GAMES more than any other city in the country – the 2013 game will make New York host for the ninth time! In the past the ALL-STAR GAMES have been hosted twice at the POLO GROUNDS, once at both SHEA STADIUM and EBBETS FIELD, four times at YANKEE STADIUM.

New Yorkers, especially Queens residents, are excited to see the 2013 ALL-STAR GAME return to Flushing! The Aids Walk New York Comes to Central Park this Sunday, May 20th, 2012!

The annual AIDS WALK NEW YORK will be coming to CENTRAL PARK this Sunday, May 20th, 2012! At 10 A.M. on Sunday morning AIDS WALK NEW YORK participants will begin the 6.2 mile walk that will lead them through CENTRAL PARK and through the streets of Manhattan to raise money for the GAY MEN’S HEALTH CRISIS (GMHC) - a leading organization that supports AIDS/HIV prevention and supports those affected by the disease. Support for the AIDS WALK NEW YORK has come from sponsors such as DUANE READE & DELTA AIRLINES, as well as celebrities such as NICK JONAS, WENDY WILLIAMS, KERI HILSON & DAVID HYDE PIERCE. At the time of this blog publication AIDS WALK NEW YORK participants and supporters have raised $3,026,815 online!

The AIDS WALK NEW YORK first originated in 1986, making this year’s walk the 27th annual event! Anyone who wants to take part in the walk can still register has an individual walker or a team on the AIDS WALK NEW YORK website! Exiting the subway at the 59th Street & Lexington Avenue station, continue into CENTRAL PARK at the 59th street entrance.

I’ll Have Another Arrives in Baltimore to Prepare for the Preakness!

Last weekend “I’LL HAVE ANOTHER” was crowned the winner of the 138th KENTUCKY DERBY at the CHURCHILL DOWNS RACETRACK in Louisville, Kentucky. On Monday, May 7th, it was reported that I’LL HAVE ANOTHER had already arrived in Baltimore, Maryland to begin preparing for the PREAKNESS STAKES which will take place next Saturday, May 19th, 2012. The PREAKNESS STAKES, the second of three races in the coveted TRIPLE CROWN of THOROUGHBRED RACING, will take place at the PIMLICO RACETRACK.

The third race of the TRIPLE CROWN will take place right here in New York - the BELMONT STAKES happens at BELMONT PARK in Elmont on Saturday, June 9th, 2012. BELMONT PARK is home to the longest racetrack in THOROUGHBRED RACING.

Since I’LL HAVE ANOTHER has already won the KENTUCKY DERBY, he is in the running for winning the prize TRIPLE CROWN title, which can only be won if the same horse wins all three races in the TRIPLE CROWN series. The last time a horse won all three TRIPLE CROWN races was in 1978 when AFFIRMED took the title. Racing fans all around New York will be keeping their fingers crossed that I’LL HAVE ANOTHER will place first at the PREAKNESS so when it is race time at BELMONT PARK, he will be in the running for the TRIPLE CROWN title!!

Fleet Week Returns to New York – Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 – Wednesday, May 30th, 2012!

Beginning on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012, New York City will see thousands of U.S. MARINES, NAVY SAILORS and COAST GUARDSMEN on its streets for this year’s FLEET WEEK CELEBRATION. This year’s FLEET WEEK holds a special meaning, as 2012 is the BICENTENNIAL of the WAR OF 1812! Nine tall ships from all over the world will come into Manhattan and Staten Island harbors and will be available for public tours. As in the past, there will be lectures, demonstrations and a MEMORIAL DAY celebration.

The first New York City FLEET WEEK took place in 1984 and has happened almost every year since, making this year’s celebration the 25th annual event. The FLEET WEEK PARADE OF SHIPS will kick off all the FLEET WEEK events on Wednesday May 23rd, beginning at 8 A.M. Starting on Thursday May 24th and continuing until Wednesday May 31st, public visiting hours on the ships will be from 8 A.M. – 5 P.M. in both Manhattan and Staten Island. Through out the duration FLEET WEEK various aviation events will take place at high schools in New York City, Long Island & New Jersey.
