The exciting release of “GOOD EVENING NEW YORK CITY”, a 2 CD/DVD combo set of Paul McCartney’s historic concert across the street from the hotel at CitiField was extremely well received!
All of the discs contained in the set have images of baseballs, and there is an informative pamphlet with history and photos from the Beatles first concert at Shea Stadium to photos of the amazing event held in July, 2009 at CitiField, home of the NY Mets Major League Baseball Team.
Look for the pyrotchnics during the song: “Live & Let Die” – that, and the entire concert, proved to be “classic.”
On Thanksgiving night, ABC TV broadcast the event which was narrated by Alec Baldwin giving a historical perspective of Sir Paul’s tour – with a special guest appearance by native New Yorker, Billy Joel!

We mourn the passing of … NANCY DeBENEDITTIS. It is with great sadness that our staff at the Holiday Inn LaGuardia Airport – CitiField mourns the passing of Nancy DeBenedittis, more commonly and fondly known as simply “Mama” –from Mama’s of Corona – Leo Latticini on 104th Street in Corona, Queens. Whenever you would visit this famous deli, as many locals, celebrities, reporters, politicians, baseball players and many others have …you would turn to the round table in the corner, and see Mama sitting there – perhaps with a sweater over her shoulder – and occasionally calling out: “Marie – you need me in the kitchen?” That would always bring a smile as she watched over her daughters Carmela, Irene & Marierunning the successful business her parentstarted over 80 years ago which expandedand thrived through the years when Mama & her husband took it over.

The stores are well known with Oronzo Lamorgese, Mama’s son in law preparing the homemade pasta in the windows of the store between their deli and the bakery with“Mama’s Backyard”. Everyone enjoyed the delicious, memorable food, which was also foundat Shea Stadium & CitiField over recent years, but it was always the warm welcome which you receivedthat made you feel like family in her presence – Mama was an institution, an icon, and an inspiration. Those who were fortunate to meet Mama in the neighborhoodwill never forget her. She will be remembered fondly, and sincerely missed.
