The CHINESE NEW YEAR, also commonly known as the LUNAR NEW YEAR, will be celebrated on Monday, January 23rd, 2012. It will become the YEAR OF THE DRAGON – the 5th animal in the 12 year cycle. According to infoplease.com, legend has it that in ancient times Buddha asked all of the animals to meet him on the CHINESE NEW YEAR. When 12 animals arrived to meet him, Buddha named a year after each one (giving us the year of the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog & Pig).

Those born in the YEAR OF THE DRAGON are said to be highly ambitious and passionate. They prefer to live by their own rules and are unafraid of any challenges. The last YEAR OF THE DRAGON was in 2000, and the next will take place in 2024. Many well known celebrities were born during past YEAR OF THE DRAGON, including – AL PACINO, BRUCE LEE, SANDRA BULLOCK, JOSE CANSECO, JOHN LENNON & JOHN LEGUZIAMO.
